54th Charter Anniversary of Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur

Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur – One of the highlights in the celebration of 54th Charter Anniversary in the municipality of Midsalip was Pegsalabukan Festival where we can witnessed cultural and ritual dances.

Pegsalabukan was originated from the Subanen word (IP’s) which means “Unity”.

Though it was raining, their desire to celebrate and to dance never got affected. A ritual dance was composed of four (4) contingents which came from a different school.

That was their first time to witnessed a ritual dance competition in their municipality.

It was also part of the culture of an indigenous people to offer a dance as a sign of their thanksgiving for the abundant harvest and blessings they have received.

40% of population of the said municipality was a member of an indigenous people.

Aside of ritual dance, we can also witnessed the Lechon Festival where there were 36 Lechons at all.

They also have different fruits and vegetables displayed in their booth inside the event venue.
